Discover the France PavilionChromosaturation | By Carlos Cruz-Diez

Chromosaturation is an artificial environment made up of three coloured chambers (red, green, blue) submerging the visitors, from December 13th, 2021 to January 14th, 2022.

Chromosaturation, the pure experience of color

The Chromosaturation is an artificial environment made up of three coloured chambers: a red one, a green one and a blue one, that submerges visitors. The movement of visitors in the Chamber generates interaction, transforming them into players and makers in a constantly changing event occurring in real time and space.

Chromosaturation acts as a detonator by activating in the viewer the notion of color as a material, physical situation taking place in space, without the aid of form or any support, independently of cultural conventions, physical situation, taking place in space, without the help of form or any support, independently of cultural conventions.

" To me, color is autonomous, fleeting, in perpetual motion. Color is like life: a permanent present. "

Les recherches de Carlos Cruz-Diez sur la couleur

Carlos Cruz-Diez is one of the great protagonists of contemporary art. His work and writings place him among the greatest thinkers of color in the 20th century. His works have brought a new understanding of color and have considerably expanded its perceptual universe. They reveal color as a luminous phenomenological reality, independent of any formal or symbolic structure.

Cruz-Diez developed the conceptual platform of his work between 1959 and 1981. His research allows us to experience color as an autonomous reality that can exist by itself and evolve in real space and time, without the help of any form or support.

" In my works, color appears and disappears in the dialogue that is established between space and real time.
It is possible, moreover, that thanks to color, approached through an "elementary vision" devoid of pre-established meanings, we can awaken other mechanisms of sensitive apprehension, more subtle and complex than those imposed by the cultural conditioning and mass information of contemporary societies.  "
