"All what a man can imagine, other men will be able to achieve". Jules Verne. This is a sentence that has deeply inspired the work and life of Jacques Rougerie, one of the greatest architects of extreme environments !  Jacques Rougerie bases his research and his achievements on biomimetic and bio-inspired architecture. Visionary architect and passionate about the sea, space, and new technologies, he builds underwater habitats and laboratories, floating or underwater villages, as well as lunar villages, and leads the SeaOrbiter scientific exploration vessel project. As a true explorer, he experiments his innovations by himself. He has lived several times in underwater habitats and participated in the world record of 69 days under the sea in the United States

Did you know that the depths of the oceans have many similarities with the depths of space? With the objective of rethinking the relationship between humans and their environment, the Rougerie Foundation is studying the oceans to extend the possibilities of life in extreme environments. This round-table brings together the work of scientists, the imagination of visionaries and the creativity of artists.

With Jean-François Clervoy, astronaut and honorary president of Novespace. He has done three space shuttle missions; in 1994 to study the atmosphere, in 1997 to refuel the Russian MIR station and in 1999 to repair the Hubble Space Telescope. He is the founder of the AirZeroG flights in weightlessness.

With Francis Rambert, director of the French Institute of Architecture, department of the Cité de l'architecture et du patrimoine in Paris. Architectural critic, he is the author of several works on architecture and founder of the magazine d'Architectures.

[17:45 - 18:15] Presentation of “Eurohab” project

By Peter Weiss, founder of the start-up Spartan Space, which is developing the Eurohab module, an inflatable habitat that can accomodate astronauts on a mission to the moon. His project was rewarded in 2020 by the Jacques Rougerie Foundation - Institut de France.

[18:30 - 19:30] Screening of “Inner Telescope, a Space Artwork by Eduardo Kac”

A documentary produced by the CNES Space Observatory. The film crew and director Virgile Novarina will attend the screening. Q&A session with Jean-François Clervoy
